What if I told you it only takes one month to break old cycles and create new ones that’ll transform your life? You might answer, “That’s impossible”, but it can actually happen. According to research published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, it takes about 18 to 254 days to form new habits that’ll change your life (Lally.P and others, 2009). In fact, a month is ideal for transforming your life because it’s short enough to keep you motivated, yet long enough to implement micro changes that compound and result in a drastic transformation in your life.
For this 30-day transformation, we’ll focus on four areas of your life: Mindset, Physical Health, Environment & Habits, and Self-identification & Purpose. Each week, we’ll focus on one of these areas. If there’s one specific area you want to focus on, you can skip to that week. For the next four weeks, you’ll progress in each area of your life.
The purpose of this 30-day transformation is to create a foundation that you can add to beyond just 30 days.

If you want to change your life forever in a month, you have to change the way you think and everything else follows. Our mindset has an influence on the way we act and our behavior. Therefore, to change, you must first change your thought process. Hence, in this first week to transform your life, you’ll focus on taking control of your thoughts and start to be intentional in embodying who you want to become.

Be honest about how your life is going. Where are you in life? Are you happy? Do you want to change? If so, what is it? Write down what’s working for you and what isn’t in your life. Starting your 30-day journey with reflection is the beginning of change and pointing you in the direction where you want to go.

Make your vision so plain that in your mind it feels like you’re already living your new life a month from now. Ask yourself: “Where and who do I want to be 30 days from now?” “How does my day-to-day life look?” “Am I happy?” “Do I feel more fulfilled?” “Does my body feel healthier?” “Am I becoming the person I want to be?” Write down your vision in the present tense as though you are already living your new life. For instance, instead of saying, “I will become a person who goes to the gym each day”, you will write, “I go to Planet Fitness gym each day and work out for 30 minutes.” Read your statement each day to trick your brain into thinking it’s already your reality.

Every morning, I want you to make it a habit to practice gratitude, visualize your life 30 days from now, and speak positive affirmations in your life. For 15 minutes each morning, practice these three habits. Make them a non-negotiable in your morning routine.
For 5 minutes each morning, journal three things you are grateful for. It can be small or big. Practicing gratitude helps shift your mind from negative to positive. You will start to see the good in every situation, which can improve mental health. When we focus on positivity, we tend to attract positive things into our lives.
Then, take five minutes to visualize the life you want. You want to make clear in your mind what you want your life to look like a month from now. Close your eyes and envision who you are. You want to know what your life feels and looks like. The clearer and specific your visions are, the better you’ll trick your brain into thinking that’s your reality, and this is how you manifest a better life.
For the remaining 5 minutes, speak affirmations over your life. Choose three phrases that empower you. For example, I will attract positivity today and will not tolerate negative energy.” A great trick is to use affirmations that target your weaknesses, limitations, anxiety, fear, etc. Repeat your affirmations daily to renew your mindset.
When you practice gratitude, visualization, and affirmations, it helps to rewire your brain. Moreover, your Reticular Activating System(RAS) in your brain filters out negativity, limiting beliefs, doubt, etc.
Who do you want to become in these 30 days? What are your core values? What matters most to you? This first week is crucial for your transformation journey because it’ll help you stay consistent with the changes you will make over the next few weeks. Your life will not change unless you become the person who lives the type of life you want.
For the first day on how to change your life in 30 days, take a moment to think, what are three to five things that matter most to you? Is it family, freedom, health, growth, etc? Whatever they are, write them down in your journal. These core values will be a guide to align with your purpose and who you want to become.
Be clear on who you want to be; envision her clearly in your mind. Then, write down who she is by describing her. Instead of writing your statement in the future tense, like “I want to be a confident woman,” you should write “I am a confident woman who owns every room I walk into.” Also, you can write your identity statement in the third person tense to describe yourself as though someone else is describing you. For instance, “Bella is a confident woman. She owns every room that she walks into and is secure in everything she does.”

From this day on, embody the woman you want to become. Act like her. Dress like her. Think like her. Prioritize like her. Simply be her. Every time you’re about to take action or make a decision, ask yourself, “What would the woman I want to become do?” Do what she would do. She is the blueprint on how you should act, think, and behave.
Apply for the job. Upload the first video. Introduce yourself. Growth is on the other side of your comfort zone. To transform your life, you must be willing to be daring and do the things that scare you.
Transforming your life shouldn’t be your only goal; you should also transform others’ lives by giving back. Your giving back can be a word of encouragement, smile, hug, or meal. When we give back to others, this is what makes our lives feel fulfilling and purposeful.
When your identity changes, you are more likely to stick to the actions, behavior, and habits you’ve created. You start to align with the woman you want to become, and this is what causes you to transform your life. Like the saying goes, “Nothing changes, unless you do.” Therefore, your circumstances have no other choice but to change.
This week, evaluate your environment see if it empowers or drains you. Your environment is important for your self-growth. Hence, immerse yourself in an environment that supports your goals.
Operating in a messy environment creates brain fog, causing you to lack motivation and get distracted easily. You can start by decluttering small areas of your room, such as your desk, bookshelf, or floor. You can declutter your digital space by clearing files or filtering your social media feed.

To drastically change your life in a month, organize an area in your room dedicated to self-growth and creativity. You can call that area your “Power Corner” or “Productive Corner.” Keep this space clean, inspiring, and motivating.
If you’re not able to create this productive space in your home, you can always make one at a library, cafe, or anywhere that encourages you to grow and be creative and productive.
The people you choose to surround yourself with matter. If you are around unmotivated or negative people, you’ll more than likely become unmotivated or negative. Hence, make a list of people who uplift you and those who drain you. This month, limit the time you spend with the ones that are draining you and spend more time with those that empower you. If you don’t have someone who motivates you, you can always follow people on social media for inspiration.
Think of a bad habit you have, it can be mindlessly strolling, going to bed late, or procrastination. A great tip is to choose the most toxic habit that negatively impacts your life. Then, you want to replace it with a positive habit such as reading a book, journaling, or meditating. Now, I want you to think of yourself as someone who identifies with the good habit. For instance, if your toxic habit is to overthink and your positive habit is now to breathe and stay calm, you would think of yourself as “I am a woman who calmly assesses a situation without panicking.” Try to remove a toxic habit and replace it with a positive one each month. Changing your habits is a way to transform your life.

Spend this evening away from social media and your phone. Instead, use that time to spend with yourself, family, or doing hobbies like reading or painting. Taking a break from social media and your phone can be a great way to slow down, recenter yourself, and free your mind.

Build a habit that is a catalyst for building other good habits. For instance, reading in the morning can be a cornerstone habit for other productive habits, such as meditating. Be consistent with this habit each day, make it one of your non-negotiables.
Our environment influences our actions, which affects our lives. If we want to transform our lives, we must create an environment that supports the changes we want to make. Therefore, the people surrounding you and intentional habits are a crucial part of your 30-day transformative journey.
For our lives to be transformed, we need our bodies to be transformed. We can’t think properly or make decisions in our lives if we’re sluggish or tired. Therefore, this week we should spend improving our energy and strength.

Strength training, walking, yoga, or attending a cycle bar class are all ways you can move your body this week. Choose a form of movement that is challenging, energizing, and enjoyable for you.

To improve your nutritional intake, start by replacing an unhealthy meal or snack with one that is healthy. For example, you would eat grapes instead of candies. Remove and replace one item a week and you’ll notice a change in your body.

A great way to know how much water to drink each day is to divide your weight in half and convert it into ounces. This is the amount of water your body needs to stay hydrated. For instance, if my weight were 130 pounds. I would divide by two, which results in 60 pounds. Then, I’ll convert 60 pounds into ounces, which is 960 ounces. This is the amount of water I should target to drink each day. For an extra boost of energy, add lime to your water.

Set an intentional time for sleeping and waking up. Aim to get at least 7 to 8 hours of rest. Sleeping is important for changing your life and overall physical health because it improves your mood, energy, heals your body, and regulates your bodily weight.

To change your life forever, starts with the betterment of yourself. Therefore, create a self-care routine that you can do at the end of each day within 10-20 minutes. Whether it’s a gua sha facial massage, meditation, stretching, or taking a relaxing bath, make a routine that improves your physical wellness.
Reflect back from day one until now. Journal the changes you’ve noticed in your life. What habits stuck? Which ones didn’t? What were the most challenging day/s or week/s for you? Why? Do you notice a change in how you feel? In which ways have your mindset shifted? Do you feel like your life has transformed?
Now that you have momentum, it’s time to expand your 30-day vision to 90 days. Where do you want to see yourself in the next three months? The goal to transform your life is to consistently improve it. Therefore, your end goal shouldn’t be 30 days. Continue to build on the life you’ve created these past 29 days. Remember that these 30 days were just a foundation for a transformative life.
There’s no better motivator than acknowledging your growth and accomplishments and commemorating them. Hence, reward yourself for your transformation journey.
When you feel energized and nourished, this can improve your motivation and capability to make changes in your life. Your physical wellness determines your thinking process and regulates your emotions, which can have a tremendous effect on your life.
A lot can change in 30 days. Heck, a lot can change in 24 hours. Although every day won’t be perfect, the goal is to stay consistent. The more you stay consistent, the easier it will be to transform your life. If you find yourself falling, get back up and pick up where you left off.
